In February 2006 the director Angus Reid set out with a group of cyclists on a trip through western Bengal with the aim of covering seven hundred kilometres in seven days. After several days some members of the expedition became seriously ill. The cause of their nausea, diarrhea, and fever was the parasite Entomoeba histolytica. The film evolved along with the symptoms of illness.
