Where does racism come from? Is it infections, taught or embedded deep within the human psyche? The fear of an 'other' has always be existent in society, insidious and often disguised, but its always present, preying on those unlike a a majority in a group and who are often new to a society. In the short film The Other we witness the catastrophic aftermath once a clear target has been drawn on a young girl's back. Environmental extremists, Mitchell and Michaela, are introducing Lucy to the group for the first time. Through fierce manipulation, Mitchell convinces Michaela that she bears the same hatred for Lucy as he does.
