Affective Encounters on and off the Documenta 13 Trail is a situated story that intimately explores artistic expectations, curatorial tensions, and the emotions that accompany unexpected but extraordinary encounters during a residency at Documenta (13). Vital agents featured include Robinson, a Chilean street artist and undocumented migrant. When Robinson is ejected from exhibition spaces, searched by the police, attacked by Neonazis, and rendered homeless on the closing night of dOCUMENTA(13), we ask questions abut his routine harassment, racial interpellations, and the migrant tensions prevalent in Germany. A latter chapter introduces Eriza, a baby hedgehog that led us to our favorite artwork. The journey ends with suspense as the directors encounter a vigilante on Berlin's subway. Featuring guest appearances by Jimmie Durham and Carolyn Christov Bakargiev.
