Elizabeth Law is an ambitious MIT grad student and aspiring astronomer who finds herself overwhelmed by the competition of the scientific community. After another long day of classes, a drunk and alone Elizabeth meets William Cross, an idealistic astronaut trapped in Earth's orbit, over the radio. After agreeing to stay on the line with him while they wait for help, Elizabeth and Will open up to each other, sharing their secrets, fears, and doubts about their pasts and forming a connection that pushes Elizabeth to set her doubts aside and jump-start her journey to success.
