In the City

In the City is a modern day noir set in Los Angeles. The story centers on a series of tense encounters between Raul, a working-class Latino artist, and Jenny, an affluent Asian banker. While seemingly opposites, both characters are trapped in their own way. Raul is crippled with an impossible debt to a violent loan shark, as he struggles to support his 10-year-old son. On the other hand, Jenny is stuck in a loveless relationship with a rich older man, as she vainly attempts to break free of his control and assert her independence. In the City is not your typical thriller but a story of repressed desire, spiritual anguish, and the dark, constraining forces of the city.
