Marta Vasileva is a talented doctor who works in a capital clinic with her husband Igor. But one day her life falls apart: Marta's mother dies, she finds her husband with her best friend, and she has to quit her favorite job. Crushed by grief and betrayal, Marta is transferred from the capital to the north to the small town of Novye Vetry, where she becomes the head doctor. From that moment on, her new life begins. Seeing that the hospital is in a deplorable state, there are no doctors, and the residents of the village are self-medicating, Marta resolutely takes up the case. But it turns out that her efforts are in vain, because the hospital is planned to be closed. Businessman Grigoriy Davydov, having enlisted the support of officials, wants to build a prestigious sanatorium in its place. Marta is against it - people cannot be left without medical care. She is supported by Vasiliy, an employee of the local Ministry of Emergency Situations, with whom she begins a romantic relationship. However, it soon becomes clear that Marta and Vasiliy's families are connected by an old tragedy that does not allow the lovers to be together.
