Keepsake is a psychological thriller film exploring the kidnapping of a young girl and the relationship that develops between the two people. The film centres around Kenneth, a man in his 50's who is stuck in the past, a time where he was happier in life. He's created his own unique surroundings to transport him there, filling it with objects to do so, including Rae. Rae is a young but incredibly smart teenager who recognises Kenneth's weaknesses and uses them to manipulate Kenneth to her advantage. The film is Mike Leigh's 'Naked' meets Luc Besson's 'Leon' and touches taboo subjects including the relationships between younger girls and older men, but also explores isolation and the need for companionship.
