Richard still has Catherine. That's all that matters. He will stop at nothing to keep her from what lurks in the darkness outside but she is sick and her condition is deteriorating. When a dangerous presence approaches threatening their temporary sanctuary, Richard has to take a great risk which could cost him everything. He must find the strength to hold on, to keep the light in the dark hours.
