The film is based on the short story 'A Watcher by the Dead' by Ambrose Bierce. The action takes place in the 30s in the United States. It's chilly autumn, late at night. A young man named Jarret is locked up in a small, damp room, alone with a corpse lying on the table. He neither panics, nor tries to escape, but seats himself peacefully in the arm-chair next to the lit candle and begins to wait quietly for something. Time passes away slowly, and the lonely prisoner begins to feel queerly. His only 'company' is the corpse lying next to him....
