Rufus lives in a universe that consists of an infinite library. The universe - the library - contains every possible book, every combination of letters than can be written down. Most of the books are pure gibberish, just random letters. As Rufus climbs up, floor after floor, he searches for some meaning: the Crimson Chamber, which would contain a book that explains everything, even the existence of the library itself. His discovery, decades before, of a book that mentions him by name spurs him onward in his endless quest through the decaying library. What he finds at the top - a couple of hackers with a search engine of the whole library - changes the meaning of his whole life.
