Potluck

'The Fellowship of Auger,' a mysterious religious group in Upstate NY made up of metal-heads, hippies, folk musicians, and assorted weirdos, is investigated by a student documentary crew. Over the course of the movie, we discover the group's secret: they practice human sacrifice! We also learn about the philosophy of the alternately seductive and hostile Fellowship, which centers around an arcane concept known only as 'Mem.' Inspired by the films of Christopher Guest and John Waters, 'Potluck' relies on improv performances, tongue planted firmly in cheek, and climaxes with a haunting, over-the-top gore frenzy music video. The film is an uneasy and comedic love letter to the passion and absurdity of life in a cult.
