Fourteen years after Aisha, a five-month old orphan from India, is adopted into a family in the Netherlands, she finds out that her biological parents are still alive. Her father had not wanted another daughter: he finds girls too expensive. Now in her thirties, Aisha still struggles with the complexity of her family relationships. Adopted children have no say in their adoption, yet they are forced to live with the fact of their abandonment their entire lives.
