Kate and her husband have been trying to have a baby. After years of extensive infertility investigations the marriage begins to crumble. As the viewer, we are listening in to a cell phone conversation with Kate and her sister. The raw continuous take of the lake reminds us that we are all made of water and that water is a common symbol for fertility, growth, and new life which serves as a binary opposition in this film. The Director not only gives you a glimpse of Kate's life but explores the notion of the real and the unreal. It provides a snapshot of today's technology driven culture; both the invasiveness of advanced medical procedures and also the invasiveness of the cell phone.
