8 Ecstasies is an experimental collaboration between artist/filmmaker David Brody and composer Zig Gron. Brody began with an abstract digital drawing animated to the rhythms of heavy breathing. Gron constructed a set of variations in which the rhythmic structure of the breathing was repeated, but each time in a different mood. The soundtrack thus creates an episodic narrative, while the animation, making uncanny adjustments to the musical mood, cycles through a synaesthetic choreography of opening and closing, rupturing and interlocking.
