Unemployed Tauno Välimäki steals a memory game as a birthday present for his estranged son but is caught red-handed. The self-indulgent and overzealous guard foreman Pentti Asikainen has decided to end this shoplifter's despicable activities for good. Pentti's condescending attitude awakens the rebel inside Tauno and a seemingly normal interrogation turns into a battle of wills by two men of which only one will emerge as the winner.
