'If I could only know the world out there.' The Washing Line refers to the choices every woman has to make in life, between conventional vs unconventional, heaven vs hell. It tells true stories of two women who chose 'the road less traveled by'. Dina (1950) knew books, but walking on her washing line was her ambition and link to the world, while Kara (2000), knew the washing line through household duties, but her ambition is being able to read (to know the world).
