Sunrise, Over, responds to a period of dystopian industrial society denoted by the painting. Impression Sunrise, oil on canvas, Claude Monet,1872. This period has run its course, and is now book-ended by my film, Sunrise Over, with its visually layering and sublime impressions of a 21st century post-apocalyptic world where all is measured, captured and controlled. Produced on Fujichrome Single8 film stock. The score of 'Sunrise Over' embodies a deep range of feelings and emotions, embodying the melancholy and 'dolorosa' of the present. A driving sense of emergency is lent to the plaintive, sonorous music of The Offering by The Visit. (Raphael Weinroth-Browne (cello) and Heather Sita Black (voice) This music resounds throughout, and accentuates the nuanced visual layering and the complex theme of the film.
