In November 2013, a month out from the annual Woodford Folk Festival in North Brisbane QLD, Taiwanese Artist Wang Wen-Chih travelled to Australia with a team of four master bamboo craftsmen and his family in order to build an installation that would lead to the main amphitheatre during the festival. It was a collaboration between architects and engineers from the Australian Design Collective 'Cave Urban' and artist Wang Wen-Chih. The installation later named, 'Woven Sky' was built from locally harvested bamboo and constructed using a weaving technique crafted by Wen-Chih himself, after learning from elders in the high mountains of Chiayi, Taiwan. A team of almost 30 volunteers, along with professional engineers and architects worked in 40Degree heat for almost 20 consecutive days, using little machinery to build a 15m high and 100m long organic bamboo structure.
