Jacob is a postman, who never went to University and still lives with his parents. Powered beings are popping up all over Australia and when Jacob discovers his lifelong friend has a power he betrays him and gives him up to the guards at his door and will be taken away to 'The Pit.' And until Jacob is hit by a van, he discovers to possess the power of immortality, which leads to him also being segregated by the Government and from his friends and family.
