Frontier Journals 01: Mythologies of the Conquerors

The first entry in a series of personal essay videos that explores conceptions of the frontier. Global narratives of colonial conquest and exploration intersect with the personal experiences of the filmmaker as he migrates westward into a landscape completely unknown to him. The first entry tells of strange encounters with animatronic Indians, performances of displaced ancient traditions, and mass pilgrimages to sacred sights of power and spectacle.
