Johan (12) dreams of going out and discovering the world. He decides to join a camping trip: a survival week in the woods. During the camp he finds it difficult, being the new boy, to secure his place in the group and then as night falls he suffers an attack of pitch-black homesickness. Johan fights an internal struggle to overcome his fears in order to become a valuable member of the scouting group. The documentary portrays a young adolescent struggling to leave his comfort zone.
