Leftovers tells the story of Gemma's final moments before leaving her old life of abuse and ridicule behind to face an uncertain future. During a five monologue she tries to justify her actions to a partner who does not seem too interested in what she has to say. When she finally does leave we get a glimpse of what motivated her heightened emotional state.
