In 1950s, an orphan Joe, while working on his uncle Red's boat, holds a strong desire to see his town's first neon sign. Despite Red's denial of Joe's request to attend the lighting, the unwelcome return of Red's own son, Evan allows Joe to take a day off. When the neon buzzes, Joe's journey that connects the future and the past of his family begins.
