Laila, a young Persian-Canadian woman, falls desperately in love with Emmie, a woman artist. Meanwhile Laila tries to get out of marrying her fiancé, Amir, in a marriage that is arranged by her traditional Persian family. She must come face-to-face with her family, and her own uncertainties; to choose between her family's traditions and her own freedom and desires.
