Lazzi

In Lazzi, a Commedia dell'Arte troupe, headed by the evil Pantalone, is performing in a grand theater. Pantalone has betrothed his daughter Beatrice to the scoundrel Brighella against her will. Beatrice, however, has a man she loves in the audience, Stefano, who in the middle of the show comes to meet her backstage to help her escape this dastardly troupe. Their plan goes awry when the couple is caught by Pantalone and must make a bombastic escape from the theater, battling Pantalone's actor minions on the way. Chock full of the slapstick humor and archetypal characters that Commedia dell'Arte established back in the 1600's, Lazzi is a wild ride and a blast to the past of comedy's roots.
