Damiano, a dull boy, looks out the kitchen window, lost in thought. He seems completely lonely, but he's not. His beautiful girlfriend is there with him. Their life seems ordinary and monotonous until he finds a picture inside an old book that he doesn't recognize as his. From the picture he can only distinguish a couple sitting by a lake, but their faces are burned out. Someone has tried to forget their past. The boy turns the picture and finds a love poem written on the back. Night falls, and Damiano sleeps, haunted by the lines of the poem. He is tormented by a terrifying nightmare of a drowning girl. The next day, seeing the nightmare as a sign, he decides to go the lake. There, his remorse, embodied by the phantom of his girlfriend, makes him remember that he drowned her and left her body to rot. Damiano is left hopeless with remorse and the consciousness of what he has done. Now he knows the truth. Now he remembers.
