A 16-year-old boy struggles to find purpose and peace after his father's substance abuse and gambling addictions turn their lives upside-down. Forced to move to Baltimore's inner city from the comforts of suburbia, Mark finds himself not only dealing with the normal growing pains of being a teenager, but he must also grapple with feeling isolated by his distant and often irate father. The blight surrounding him in his new neighborhood only adds to the mounting depression he feels. The development of an unexpected mentorship with his physical education teacher leads to his discovery of House music. Through the music and dance, Mark finds freedom, hope in himself and in his new community.
