Bardo

A man lies in his bed; he has lay here for a seemingly indefinite amount of time. The dim light of his room barely illuminate the sorrow and pain that plagues his face and cripples his body. His room is dark, cold, and quiet. The only sounds to be heard are the week, shaky breaths that he struggles to produce. Only the air in the room and the dark of the space adorn the walls. On the mantle, a crumpled up 'get-well' card sits alone, isolated, and weak just as the man it was intended for. Through a series of short flashbacks the viewer become aware of the history behind his pain and regrets. Decades earlier, the now old man, ran a stop sign and had the accident we all fear. The death of his young son and daughter haunts him far into the present. The loss of his beloved children was too much for his wife to bear and forced her out of his life as well. Now, all alone, he welcomes death at his own hand. As death consumes him, he loses consciousness only to awaken in a beautiful field surrounded by luscious grasses and thick greenery. He notices an out of place, red door atop a hill. Behind the door stand his children. Through a silent interaction he is persuaded to continue living for it is not his time. He awakens in his bed.
