The title comes from the third quatrain, third verse of Verdi's famous 'Va Pensiero sull'ali dorate', the Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves from his opera Nabucodonosor. This nineteenth century set historical short film narrates the story of a legendary composer, but, first of all, it is the dramatic chronicle of a lost man's dramatic life, of the ashes who gave birth to this great phoenix of music. The short film has been shot under several cultural patronages, including the Giuseppe Verdi Museum of his native town Busseto, in Emilia-Romagna, Italy, and stars the enstablished Italian actors Luca Lionello (as Giuseppe Verdi), and Alessandro Haber (as the impresario Bartolomeo Merelli). The Italian actress Elisabetta Pellini plays the role of Verdi's wife Margherita Barezzi, who died just before Verdi's crisis. Director Emanuela Morozzi is also the co-author of the screenplay, written in collaboration with the Argentinian writer Maria A. Listur. The cinematography has been signed by a great name of classic italian cinema: Cristo Verrillo, while the original symphonic score, creatively employing some Verdi's tunes, has been composed by the Italian composer Marco Valerio Antonini.
