'Why' is a story of a young Afghan boy who, along with his father and on the invitation of one of his friends, has immigrated to the land of his dreams, America. Having lost his mother and his sister during the Afghan Civil War, he is mired in a state of gloom. With the help of his old Afghan friend, the father often visits an immigration lawyer's office so that they can obtain permanent residency in the United States. In the midst of this uncertainty and hopelessness, Ali -- the young Afghan boy meets a beautiful American girl, Ezabel, who happens to live in their neighborhood. Grappling with her own family issues, Ezabel goes out of her way to help out Ali experience life in its most beautiful sense. Transformed by each other's experiences, Ezabel and Ali take on an odyssey of love and adventure. . . .
