In Twenty Years: Central District

Learn about the good and the bad sides of gentrification as it invades the fast-growing city of Seattle. In this third installation of the four-part series, audiences will see the once largely populated African-American neighborhood dubbed the 'Central District,' turn into an upscaled, predominantly white community. This controversial and highly debated topic of interest is the exact process of removing once existing residents, and replacing their homes/businesses with gleaming multi-use buildings. Property taxes rise as condos do, forcing remaining residents to make the choice to struggle or give up their home, permitting gentrification to continue.
