Elena's studies lead her to the city of Vienna. Without financial backing of her family, she starts her new life with a bank loan, which she is paying off with ordinary student jobs. When this is no longer enough she starts working as a hostess and accompanies rich men to evening events. In fear of the disapproval of her boyfriend Martin and her mother, she confides only to her friend Sophie and starts a dangerous double life.
