Desperate to escape a life of poverty, loner Zach kidnaps upper-class eight-year-old Oliver from his private school. Pressed together while holding Oliver hostage for ransom, Zach discovers that a rough life of day-to-day scraping can be happier than living with the silver spoon of absent parents. As kidnapper and hostage grow close, goals and choices for both begin to change.
