Thirty-one years after the end of the Civil War, 'the graveyard of the Atlantic' stood to claim another ship torn apart by the hurricane strength winds and waves. Racially-charged Pea Island N.C, witnessed the hatred and feared all-black crew of their U.S. Lifesaving Service Station accomplished one of the most daring rescues at sea ever recorded.
