A pocket of New York City is flooded with the most human-like droids ever built. Created by brilliant robotics-engineer Anton, they are near-perfect replicas. Anton cracked the lag between hardware and software, making he and his wife rich, but damaging their relationship and driving her to leave him. His attempt to build a perfect replica of his wife ricochets off his fleet of computerized doppelgängers, bringing out the monster in the humans his early efforts were based on. Now with his androids, called bogies by insiders, are considering morality, even poetry, and the humans' lives becoming rapidly dismantled- who can tell the men from the beasts?
