Woven together by a letter written to the city of Baltimore by a young man named John Chalmers, the film profiles two students who participate in Next One Up, a nonprofit program which serves high-risk student-athletes in Baltimore City. John reflects on his childhood in Baltimore City and the importance of support systems like Next One Up for youth facing the severe challenges of growing up in cities across America.
