Eight is a documentary film about the unbearable lightness of being in love in contemporary St. Petersburg, Russia. In the film, eight young women share their intimate thoughts on relationships: how to find and sustain fulfilling relationships, and what is unique about dating in St. Petersburg. Eight focuses on the joys and sorrows of love but also pays a beautiful homage to the modern metropolis of lights and shadows. St. Petersburg is full of contrasts. The historic city is like a museum--and, at the same time, alive and changing, 24 hours a day. Contemporary Russian indie music plays a big role in Eight. The film's soundtrack consists of twelve songs. Ten out of twelve songs heard in the film are by Russian indie artists, including the post-rock band Echoes And Signals, the witch house artist Nii Gulag, the black metal band Show Me A Dinosaur, the trance artist Lamax, and the composer Kai Engel (Anton Fedchenkov).
