A Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd

A featurette sponsored by Pepsi-Cola that was originally intended to be released in Summer 1978 as a promotion for the Southern Rock outfit's planned musical roots LP. The plane crash in 1977, which claimed the lives of lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines and backup vocalist Cassie Gaines, transformed the album into an epitaph entitled "First - and Last", and this short film from promo into a celebrative tribute. "A tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd" played nationwide in 80% of theaters showing Grease in the summer of 1978.
